Measure your feet & determine foot length
Tutorial to measure your feet and determine the right figure skate size
You will need:
- two DIN A4 sheets of paper
- a sharpened pencil
- a ruler
- a tape measure
Determining the foot length
- Take off your socks or use thin socks without seams.
- Sit on a chair that allows you to have a right angle between your thigh and lower leg.
- Place an A4 sheet of paper under one foot. Place your foot on the sheet at a right angle, as straight and centred as possible. Make sure that the whole foot is on the paper.
- Now take the pencil and outline the foot. Make sure that you hold the pencil vertically the whole time.
- Now take the foot off the sheet and use the ruler to draw a straight line parallel to each other and to the sheet at the top and bottom.
- Next, measure the distance between the two lines and note the length on the respective sheet..
Repeat steps 1 to 6 for the second foot. The foot lengths may differ. The longer foot is crucial for the correct shoe size.
Determining the foot width
- Take off your socks or use thin socks without seams.
- Sit on a chair that allows you to have a right angle between your thigh and lower leg.
- Place the tape measure under the ball of your foot.
- Now measure the circumference of the ball of your foot. Run the tape measure past the root of the little toe and the root of the big toe. The tape measure may be slightly crooked.
- Read off the size and write it down on the A4 sheet of paper for that particular foot.
Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the second foot. It is possible that the foot widths are different. The wider foot is crucial for the correct shoe width.
Using the values determined, you can read the appropriate shoe size from the table here.
